Quark Rosinenbrötchen/Eggless German Curd Cheese Raisins Rolls

Quark is a well known German Curd cheese which is often used in most of the dishes in Germany. Though this curd cheese is not easily available here is Paris, i couldnt resist to grab it from a nearby cheese store, where you can find any sort of the regional or international cheese varieties easily. When i picked this Quark cheese, i checked immediately for an easy dish to dish with this cheese for this month's Mega marathon which i have been running since two weeks with A-Z baking around the world as theme. Obviously for the Alphabet 'Q' i couldnt resist to bake this Quark bread roll with loads of raisins. Quark is a fresh cheese which is quite similar to Greek yogurt which is less in tanginess and less in calorie with rich in protein. Some quark cheese rolls calls for yeast but this raisin loaded quark bread rolls calls for baking powder.

Quark Rosinenbrötchen, German Quark Roll

This quark bread rolls came out extremely soft with biscuit like texture with soft crumb and bit crisp crust. Though the original recipe went for egg and egg yolk wash,i completely skipped the egg part as i want to bake this curd cheese rolls as eggless version. Easy to prepare, this rolls calls for easy and usual ingredients, no butter is needed as quark cheese replace very well butter in this rolls. Quark Rosinenbrötchen makes an excellent breakfast when served along with butter and jam or else with honey. This recipe is definitely easy to make so that you can even bake this rolls fresh for your morning breakfast or brunch. If you want to give a bake this rolls just replace the quark with sour cream or greek yogurt as these both ingredients replace very well this German curd cheese. Dont forget to bake this easy rolls if you want something different to kick start your day with less efforts.

I haven't tried quark cheese but you are tempting me to look for it now :-) Those rolls look amazing -- love the golden color you got on them even without the egg.

I have heard of the Quark cheese but have never tried it out. That is a great bake with cheese in the dough. I am assuming this cheese will be similar to texture of the cream cheese. I am going to keep an eye out for the cheese.
